We were in planning mode with the Executive Committee to make a great 2024!

Resilient.Community

We officially launched our Android App which is available on Android devices and can be found the Google Play Store under Resilient.Community!

We started posting a few times a week to keep up with the information partners share with us. All blog posts are also available on the Resilient.Community app.

  • Made over 300 calls to Greater Boston elders in our network

  • Facilitated over 100 food deliveries

Boston Resilience Corps

We expanded the Boston Resilience Corps, a FEMA approved Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), to include an out-of-school time and workforce development program. We kicked off our first cohort of young people in January!

Black Resilience Network Members Active in Disaster Recovery Efforts

The mission of the Black Resilience Network is to catalyze leadership development, collaboration, and investments so Black towns, communities, and organizations can successfully play their vital roles in the disaster and climate resilience ecosystem.  We have over 100 members across 23 states who are doing amazing work to support the long and painful recovery process with community members. The following are some of our members who are actively leading recovery efforts. Many of them are also involved in responding to the devastation from Hurricane Helene. 2024 Climate & Disaster Resilience Roundtable: Black Resilience Network Returns to DC for Relationship Building, Education, and Advocacy

In February of 2023, the Black Resilience Network co-hosted the first convening at the White House focused on climate resilience in Black communities. There were over 75 attendees including 24 representatives of the Black Resilience Network, federal agencies, trade associations, and other Black-led organizations. We had a follow up meeting after the roundtable at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Headquarters with FEMA officials and representatives from the FEMA African American Federal Employee Resource Group (FERG). Since February 2023, the Black Resilience Network has supported several community based organizations with their post-disaster recovery efforts through our Emergency Operations Centers. We also expanded the membership to over 100 organizations across 22 states.   By    Atyia Martin June 1, 2024 Message from Dr. Atyia Martin, Executive Director National Initiatives Updates Black Resilience Network On June 11, 2024, the Black Resilience Network will be back in DC partnering with the DHS Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partners and All Healers Mental Health Alliance (AHMHA) to host the Disaster & Climate Resilient Roundtable. We will hosted at the Brookings Institution in the morning and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Response Coordination Center (NRCC). Thank you to the 25 Black Resilience Network members and partners who are attending and the dozens of representatives of federal agencies, religious organizations, and associations that have agreed to attend.
